Who is Iris Brand?

Hello! I'm Iris Brand and this is my PiddleShop!

Piddlers possess a variety of interests but take it to the next level - hands-on help for people of all ages. I have many years experience in all that I do and I do a lot - websites, merchandising, professonal document processing, ceramics and hobby crafts, caregiving, homemaking, and master of organization and home finance. The market needs versatile people like me to help develop other versatile people.

  • Kids need more development and positive memories. Ceramic classes help with both.
  • Teens and young adults need to become responsible adults. Ceramic classes help build constructive and creative minds.
  • Middle agers need to keep their sanity with more income through profitable hobbies. Ceramic classes fit the bill perfectly.
  • The elderly need creative stimulation, comradery, and fellowship. Ceramic classes provide all three.

My interest in ceramics occurred at the age of 20 when the craft became available to me through my husband's military tour at Fort Huachuca. That fort has since closed and been converted into an emergency FEMA camp. But back in the days when the fort was hoppin' and poppin' with activities to delve into, my first choice was the fort's ceramic shop.

Not all military facilities have ceramic shops, nor do all communities. Through this website, however, I plan to change that one community at a time, but I digress. The military facility where I first took to ceramics taught pouring and cleaning. Had they not made that offering, my interest may have been nil because I was more interested in molding products than in finishing them. Oh, I finished everything I poured, but it was the pouring I found most enjoyable at the time.

Since that time, my interest in finishes has evolved, which is why I bring up the age group development topics. Ceramics most definitely is an evolving art and has never failed to hold my interest with its new technologies in finishes and production applications and support mechanisms. The world we live in today is an amazing place, full of ideas that, combined, can build entire networks of enterprise.

Think of Bill Gates, for example -- a college drop out who paired up with a buddy in a garage to work on a PC concept and eventally became one of the richest men on earth. Now, if I could get people to combine their interests with my own, we could all be rich! Ha!

Humor aside, let's face it! We need each other! Bill Gates would have remained a no-name drop out had he not combined his interests with another human being. The fact that he became the dominant speaks of his own selfishness but that's not the point. The point is that we are all connected and we need each other. Our singluar minds cannot make dreams come true. We must combine interests with other like-minded people in order to accomplish our dreams.

If you expected a resume, my apologies. However, I do possess the equivalent of an associate's degree - two years of college. Having graduated from a diploma program in business administration with honors, I had changed majors half way in due to a mandatory sabbatical. The major I had chosen by then was no longer available and many of my credits were lost as a result. Back to square one with congrats on my graduation but I remain disappointed in having done the work for an associate's without receiving one. Que Sera, Sera.

Be sure to check out the rest of the site and let me know what you think.
